Hunting

Freeport Conservation Trust Hunting Info

Freeport Conservation Trust aims to accommodate a broad range of public uses on its preserves, including responsible hunting. To help maintain a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone accessing the preserves, we require that hunters review our hunting guidelines and register for hunting permission.

Failure to register or abide by FCT’s hunting guidelines can result in the revoking of hunting permission and contact from local law enforcement.

FCT Hunting Registration Form

Permission Request

You must fill out FCT’s hunting registration form if you plan on hunting on FCT properties.

We ask that hunters registering for permission consider making a donation to FCT to help maintain our preserves for public use or consider volunteering. Donations can be made online or via check; checks can be mailed to PO Box 433, Freeport, ME 04032.

FCT Hunting Rules & Guidelines

  1. Hunters must possess a valid Maine hunting license and comply with all state and municipal hunting regulations. State hunting laws and regulations can be accessed here: Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife

  2. Hunters must acquire permission to hunt on FCT preserves each season. Permissions from prior years will not carry over into the current hunting season.

  3. Hunters are responsible for knowing the locations of trails, property boundaries, and nearby residences.

  4. Permanent tree stands are not permitted on FCT preserves. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the removal and disposal of equipment by FCT staff or the Warden Service.

  6. All temporary stands must be labelled with the hunter’s name and contact information. Contact information should be readable from ground level. If contact information can not be found, tree stands will be removed by FCT staff or the Warden Service.
