The Hidden Beauty of Hidden Pond

At the town’s Hidden Pond Preserve, there is an easy 10-minute walk to the shore of the pond. Great spot for watching birds and other wildlife.

Hidden Pond History

This 46-acre property is owned by the Town of Freeport with a conservation easement held by FCT. Hidden Pond was protected in 2003. The purpose of this conservation easement is to conserve the natural habitat and preserve the protected property for science, education, wildlife habitat, low impact recreation and scenic open space.

The land is composed of a pond, wetlands, a scrub field, and an old pasture. Generally the area is open, providing long views to birders. There is also a healthy mix of native plants, insects, birds, amphibians, and flora.
