Hidden Pond History

The 46-acre parcel of the land that is called Hidden Pond has a complicated history. The first deed is dated back to 1784, but currently the land is owned by the Town of Freeport and FCT has a conservation easement on it. The purpose of this conservation easement is to conserve the natural habitat and preserve the protected property for science, education, wildlife habitat, low impact recreation and scenic open space.

The land is composed of a pond, wetlands, a scrub field, and an old pasture. Generally the area is open, providing long views to birders. There is also a healthy mix of native plants, insects, birds, amphibians, and flora.
