About the Trail
This 1.6 mile trail is part of the East Freeport Trail Network. Beginning at the southwest end of Litchfield Road, the trail traverses the backside of a farm field, then follows Kelsey Brook for about a mile, crossing the brook midway, then passing by another farm field. At 1.5 miles, the trail crosses the brook again on a narrow log bridge before joining with the Antoinette Jackman Trail. This trail passes through hemlock and softwood forests and affords farm field and stream views. The trail is narrow, comprised of uneven surfaces that contain roots and large to medium-sized rocks. There are multiple bog bridges, several stream crossings, and a large step-up/down. There are numerous moderately steep grades. Kelsey Brook Trail provides access to the Mitchell Ledge Trail and Gibby’s Trail. This trail adjoins working farmland. Please maintain a safe distance and leash dogs around farm fields.
