You are invited to join three walks:
- Sayles Field and Woods, Saturday, July 28, 9:15 AM. Enjoy a full Sayles Field and Woods walk starting at the Stonewood Trailhead, going to South Freeport village and back. This walk covers a variety of terrain, through forest and field, and will probably take about an hour and a half.
Stonewood Trailhead: located at the end of Stonewood Drive, which leaves Route 1 across from Freeport Ski and Bike.
- Arnold Family Forest, Friday, August 3, 10 AM. This walk will be led by Bob Perschel, the Executive Director of New England Forestry Foundation (NEFF). NEFF is the landowner of this forest, and FCT holds a conservation easement on it. Bob will offer commentary about forest management, forest habitat, and NEFF’s long-range vision for conservation.
Arnold-Blair Trailhead: From South Freeport Road, follow Staples Point Road to Fogg Point Road on the right. Take Fogg Point Road 0.3 miles to a small turnout on right. Park there or off the road nearby.
- Quarry Woods, Saturday, August 18, 9:15 AM. Quarry Woods is a varied, interesting property near downtown Freeport. FCT has an easement on this town-owned parcel. The trails pass by lovely historic quarries and wetland areas with everchanging vegetation.
Quarry Woods Trailhead: Go to Mast Landing School off of Bow Street. Meet up for the walk in the school’s rear parking lot. The trail enters the woods just to the left of the pond.
