Climate Change topic of FCT Annual Meeting

The public is invited to attend Freeport Conservation Trust’s Annual Meeting on Monday, June 2, 2014 at 7 pm at the Freeport Community Center, 53 Depot Street.

The guest presenter is Dr. Stephen Mulkey, President of Unity College. He has titled his talk Crisis and Opportunity in the Environmental Century: Inspiring a Generation of Greatness. Dr. Mulkey will explain how new scientific understanding shows that we have exceeded limits for sustaining life on earth as we know it. And he’ll make the case for actions we can take now to address climate change for the sake of future generations.

“Stephen Mulkey is both a sobering and inspiring voice in the climate change movement. He argues that we can’t ignore the threat warmer temperatures will have on Maine’s wildlife and economic foundation, including forestry and lobstering,” said FCT President Victoria Stefanakos, anticipating the talk. “But he couples it with optimism about how our abundant resources, including fresh water, young farmers and smart institutions, offer amazing opportunities, too. I can’t wait.”

Join us for a thought-provoking presentation accompanied by locally grown and produced treats.
