FCT December Monthly Trail Work Session

FCT December Monthly Trail Crew~ Thursday 12/7/2023 @ 8:30-11:30am.

Chainsaw wizards! Chainsaw heros! Invasive buckthorn chokes out native plants and animals and Walsh Preserve (on Old County Road) has plenty of buckthorn. Experts tell us an important step in managing buckthorn is cutting down the largest seed producers. At this session we’ll cut the biggest buckthorn trees, buck them up into smaller sections and scatter them. FCT will have hand saws and loppers on hand, but a couple chainsaws and operators would help us get more done. We’ll meet at the parking lot on Old County Road at 8:30am. If you have any questions please contact Jonathan Dawson at jonathan@freeportconservationtrust.org. Thank you!
