Hedgehog Mountain

Hedgehog Mountain is a 196-acre property owned by the Town of Freeport. Over 5 miles of trails lead visitors up Hedgehog “Mountain” (the highest point in Freeport), through mature pine and hemlock forest, over and around old stonewalls. Hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing are allowed on all trails. Mountain biking and snowmobiling are allowed on designated trails. Dogs must be on-leash or under voice command at all times and pet-waste must be collected and carried out. Directions: The trailhead is located on Hedgehog Mountain Road off Pownal Road. A gravel parking area is located on the left just before the Recycling Center gate.
